Right in the Jewels

nwbayer.jpg

What it is errr body??? It’s the okay-est music critic in the world, and I’m back again with another pathetic review.

If you couldn’t already tell from the artwork above, I’m reviewing Run the Jewels 2 from creative hip-hop duo, Run the Jewels, which consists of Atlanta-native rapper, Killer Mike, and alternative hip-hop artist/producer, El-P.

Uxapbq8.gif

These two formed Run the Jewels in 2013, and once they released their self-titled project, the whole internet went sort of…crazy. I remember seeing Run the Jewels here, and someone posting it on this and that forum; I was baffled. Plus, seeing their project on best of 2013 lists was insane, so once I noticed that, I knew I had to check out whoever they were…or what.

Believe me, whoever you are that’s reading this, just watch this video for their track “Banana Clipper”. If you don’t like this, you must be, in the words of Cypress Hill...

Heaven Needs Vince Staples

hellcanwaitfinal-1.jpg

What it is everyone? Did you miss me? Because I sure didn’t miss you all ;)
But in all seriousness, I haven’t written a pathetic review in awhile, so I’m here to disappoint you all again!

Enough about me, let’s talk about why we’re really here: Vince Staples.

30bedd30.jpg

Don’t recognize him? No worries, many don’t. If any of you enjoyed “Hive” from Earl Sweatshirt, then surprise, VINCE STAPLES is in that song too!

Evidence: Skip to 2:54

Crazy fact-pinion: I think his verse on this track blows Earl Sweatshirt’s out of the water, plus the beat was created for Vince’s bar “Tools hit like pool sticks, the way I cue sh**”. The beat and those words correlate to the production since the beat sounds like someone playing pool.

Vince Staples is not like any hip-hop artist; he’s actually from Compton. Being from Compton is a blessing and a curse when you’re a rapper.

Blessing: You have “stuff”...

More like “Semi-Attractive” Heroes

Ugly Heroes EP by Ugly Heroes

What it is everyone? It’s ya boy Marky-Mark here to, yet again, conjure up a dope review. Was my last review stupid, dope, irrelevant, ignorant, or simply “not good”? It’s possible, but c'mon, that’s the past…so get over it. Like I said before, hate it or love it, send me a tweet.

Back to the main attraction, the Ugly Heroes are a 3-dude conglomerate consisting of Chi-Town, alternative hip-hop artist, Verbal Kent, Detroit native Red Pill and one of the dopest producers I’ve never heard of, Apollo Brown.

Not sure if any of you listened to their first project, Ugly Heroes, but it was surprisingly good for a debut with a cohesive tracklist and like I said, never heard of Apollo Brown before, but his production skills are on-point when connected with the right musicians. (caution: he’s not for those of you who praise DJ Mustard) Brown’s beats will either...

Water is Truth

500_1407162570_mj_waters_s_1_54.jpgThe Water[s] by Mick Jenkins

First things first, who the hell is Mick Jenkins?
Mick, if I may, is some underground rapper that hails from Chicago, according to his Twitter account.

Next, why should you actually keep reading this?
What?! Do you not enjoy reading my sub-par work that might someday aid my dreams of achieving 500-1000 followers on twitter? Haha you laugh now, but just wait…someone famous might tweet me back. Oh wait, that’s already happened.

I don’t want to get the f*** out since this is my blog, but here’s some proof:

If anyone is going to tell me that Sir Michael Rocks isn’t famous, you might be right…
I definitely enjoyed his work as the second half of The Cool Kids, and his debut album, Banco, which I would advise anyone and everyone to…what’s that phrase my generation likes to blurt out for no apparent reason? Oh yes, TURN UP!

Sorry kids, as much as I would...
